Blooming Bog

The Quaking Bog in Theodore Wirth Park was phenomenal yesterday:
Wild Lily of the Valley was in bud, as were ba-zillions of Starflower. A couple of Starflowers were open, but it is nothing compared to what is coming this week:

Starflower
Trientalis
borealis ssp borealis

Wild Lily of the Valley, also Canada mayflower
(Maianthemum canadense)

The showstopper was the Buck bean:

There are dozens and dozens of these plants, which have "hairy" petals - actually tiny white filaments that make the plant look like an Alka Seltzer on a stalk.
(Menyanthes trifoliata)

The Wild calla are also starting to make an appearance.

Wild Calla, also Water arum
(Calla palustris L.)
