Everything Changes

Everything changes, but I make assumptions about certain truths - like phylogeny of some of my favorite creatures, birds. This past Winter at the Minnesota Ornithoilgists Union paper session, there was a stunning presentation of preliminary conclusions of a research group calling themselves the Early Bird Assembling the Tree-of-Life Research Project. Yes, they move bacteria around the phylogenic trees all the times. It had to come to the larger creatures. I love it - such a great demonstration that evolution is a testable theory and that real science is about questioning your theory, not coming up with arguments why things must never, ever change.
